"Great Moon Hoax" is a music video that is part live-action and part animation; it was commissioned by the band Etisga and directed by Haonan Wang. I directed and animated the animation part. The idea of the music is based on the moon landing conspiracy theories, and the animation happens in a pocket universe where organic beings and thoughts continue a cycle of growing and decaying.

It tells the story of the character waking up in a world where different forms of water in nature are replaced by lightbulbs, and, on the contrary, different forms of electricity are replaced by water. It utilises 2D cel animation, 3D graphics and acrylic paintings on paper. I worked with live-action footage shot by filmmaker Gary Hankins, printed out the frames and made paper-cut stop-motion animation with them
